Function of the ARO
This organization has Research Division to pursue the advanced research for creation and building of innovative disciplines. It comprises the cluster of research centers that Tokyo Tech organized by in-house measures for the purpose of further strengthening the results obtained from the twelve programs in seven fields selected for the “21st Century COE Program”. The Program was initiated in fiscal year 2002 by the MEXT to build strategic research centers at the highest world level. Eight programs accepted for the “Global COE” in 2007 were also incorporated in the ARO.
The individual research centers will promote advanced research and provide doctoral candidates with a range of educational research opportunities. The students will be able to receive educational research guidance from the SRO faculty members, and they will be able to learn project management methods and acquire relevant knowhow by participating in active research projects. In this way, the Integrated Research Institute will contribute to the development of a younger generation of human resources with cutting-edge research capabilities, problem-solving awareness, and management ability. This organization is supporting the activities of the Solutions Research Organization (SRO).
(Subsidies by Special Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology under the Program for the Strategic Development of Research Centers (commonly referred to as Super COE Program) are not allocated to the ARO.)
