Strategic Research Area
It becomes increasingly difficult to continue consuming petroleum and other fossil fuels in large quantities as before from the standpoint of global warming, resource depletion, and other restrictions. Unless otherwise ambitious scenarios for energy use and supply in the 21st century should be proposed and launched, a sustainable world could not be achieved. The Integrated Research Institute has therefore identified the energy issue as an area of strategic importance and is pursuing a research project in collaboration with societal and industrial sectors.
